wear where you're at...

Rebecca Burgess (textile artist and founder of the Fibershed Project)
for the last year has been wearing clothes, spun, dyed and knitted
within a 150 mile radius of her home in California.
This is not a new concept but rather a return to old habits.

'Burgess started the Fibershed project to
“swing the pendulum of our production and consumption”
to a happier medium by integrating organic fibers, natural dyes, and local economies. '

The whole idea of combining the skills of local artists, weavers,
farmers enables Burgess to create jobs within her community
and help spread this important ideal that can be adapted and
encouraged by many other communities.

What is your passion?

It's good to have a manifesto- a simple reminder of what's important to you,

New Designers 2011

For the past week i've been exhibiting at New Designers,
a showcase of graduate design.
It was alot of hard work and organisation but it paid
off the whole stand looked amazing and all the girls did
so well at showcasing and gaining interest in their various
products and ideas.
All the hard work paid off, but now it's time for some more hard work!

I saw her work whilst visiting New Blood 2011, an exhibition of graduate
illustration, graphic design and photographic work. Very impressed with the exhibition as a whole, was very innovative and creative.
